Course Director: Henri Colt

Purpose:
To train physicians in the techniques of interventional bronchoscopic procedures: rigid bronchoscopy, electrocautery, laser resection, and stent insertion.
To instruct participants in transbronchial needle aspiration and to recognize mediastinal anatomy using endobronchial ultrasound.
To enable physicians to recognize airway abnormalities of early lung cancer using florescence bronchoscopy.

Objectives:
Upon completion of the course the participant should recognize and implement the management of patients with central airway obstruction, and also know when and how a rigid bronchoscope is to be used; describe indications, contraindications, and techniques for interventopnal bronchoscopic procedures; identify mediastinal anatomy using endobronchial ultrasound; recognize normal and abnormal airways using florescence bronchoscopy.

Target Audience:
Board-Eligible/Certified Pulmonologists, General Surgeons, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, and Trainees in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Surgery from the United States and around the world.

The University of California, Irvine, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation Statement: UCI designates this educational activity for a maximum of 18 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
